BORACAY – Offering stunning beaches and coves, Boracay Island has been recognized as one of the top destinations for “Most Sustainable Stays for 2022”, according to one of the world’s leading travel platforms.

Boracay, the world-famous tourist spot in Aklan, consciously adoptis sustainable eco-tourism practices to help rejuvenate and protect its environment.

“Boracay is the stuff Instagram dreams are made of. It is now responsibly welcoming visitors again, managing volumes with daily tourist limit,” the travel research of Booking.com said.

Booking.com Travel Sustainable Badge was launched last year to provide information to travellers all over the world looking to make more sustainable travel choices.

In its travel research, Booking.com noted that 81 percent of global travellers confirmed that sustainable travel is important to them, with 70 percent saying they were more likely to choose a sustainable accommodation.

Other top destinations for a “Most Sustainable Stays for 2022” were Stockholm, Sweden; Toronto, Canada; Puerto Iguaza, Argentina; Arusha, Tanzania; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Villa de Loyva, Columbia; Merzonga, Morocco; Rishikesh, India; and Hoedspruit, South Africa.

Booking.com commissioned a research among a sample of 30,314 respondents across 32 countries and territories. The survey was taken online and took place in February 2022./PN
