BORACAY – The island resort must take in more than 360,000 tourists in the last quarter so it could reach its 2016 arrival target.
Boracay aims to accommodate 1.7 million tourists this year.
It has already posted 1,348,064 tourist arrivals from January to September — up 12.36 percent from 1,199,740 in the same period in 2015.
In 2015, tourist arrivals in the island in the last quarter reached 360,366.
FOREIGN VISITORS UP
Foreign visitor arrivals were up 18.88 percent to 681,612 by third quarter this year from 573,347 in the same period in 2015, latest Department of Tourism data showed.
Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the United States dominated inbound source markets with 557,109 arrivals, or 81.73 percent of the total volume.
About 36 percent of foreign arrivals from January to September were Koreans (245,098). Chinese tourists came in second at 33 percent (227,171).
Tourists from Taiwan reached 46,142; Malaysia, 21,266; and the US, 17,432.
