BORACAY – Closing the main road in this island resort will hasten its rehabilitation, according to Environment secretary Roy Cimatu.
The road revamp is part of the rehabilitation efforts in the island. It includes the construction of a two-lane thoroughfare, an improved drainage system and a bike line, all worth some P490 million.
While the main road is closed, motorists are advised to use to road in Bulabog area, which is also under construction.
“Maluwag at madadaanan na itong Bulabog road within the next two weeks. ‘Pag na semento na, isasarado na ang main road at doon tayo sa likod dadaan,” Cimatu said.
The Environment chief added that the Department of Public Works and Highways is hiring four contractors to fast-track the construction of the 12-meter wide, 5.2-kilometer long main road.
The road will be from Cagban area passing through Barangay Manoc-manoc to Barangay Balabag. Its construction will start in July.
The Circumferential Road, located in the east side of the island, will be used by delivery trucks and other big vehicles during the construction, Cimatu said.
“Nag-give way ang ibang establishments para sa ating Circumferential Road, para din sa Boracay,” he added. (With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
