BORACAY – The Commission on Elections in Malay, Aklan set up three polling centers for voters in this famed island resort in relation to the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections today.
Voting will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. amid the island’s ongoing closure and rehabilitation.
In Barangay Balanbag, there are 22 clustered precincts set up at the Balabag Elementary School for the village’s 7,371 registered voters, according to Malay election officer Elma Cahilig.
Barangay Manoc-Manoc has 33 clustered precincts at the Manoc-Manoc Elementary School to accommodate 11,170 voters.
Barangay Yapak, meanwhile, has 11 clustered precincts at the Yapak Elementary School for its 3,570 voters.
Island residents who are in mainland Malay will be made to line up at the poll assistance desks at the Caticlan jetty port.
After verifying their residency, voters will be given their polling precinct numbers and be allowed to enter Boracay.
The voters’ assistance lanes in mainland Malay will open as early as 5:30 a.m.
Low turnout of voters is expected in Boracay since workers and some residents have left the island beginning its rehabilitation on April 26./PN
