BORACAY – The rehabilitation works for this island resort’s power system is almost 95 percent complete, according to the Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco).

These works are part of the Phase 1 and Phase 2 priority power rehabilitation projects, added Akelco assistant general manager Engineer Joel Martinez.

Martinez said the projects cover the areas from Barangay Manoc-manoc to Barangay Balabag (Diniwid).

Task Force Kapatid – a group of volunteer-workers from various electric cooperatives in Western Visayas – targets to finish the line works before Oct. 26, the scheduled official reopening of Boracay.

As of Oct. 5, the task force has erected 142 of the 150 electric posts, laid out 5,505 meters of the 6,955-meter total service wires, retired 44 out of 110 electric posts, and clustered 847 out of 944 electric meters.

Akelco will also install additional equipment to improve the reliability of power supply at Feeder 12 for areas from Manoc-manoc to Yapak and at Feeder 10 for areas from Manoc-manoc to Balabag.

(With Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
