BORACAY – The second phase of road rehabilitation in this world-famous island resort will start full-scale this March.
Around P300 million was allocated for the 3.3-kilometer road upgrade.
The construction will connect Boracay’s main road to Tambisaan port in Barangay Manoc-Manoc, said Planning and Design Section chief Fritz Ruiz of the Aklan District Engineering Office.
Once finished, the road stretch in Boracay will have two lanes measuring 6 meters with 2-meter sidewalks.
Bike lanes and pedestrian walkways will also be put up, according to Ruiz.
Ruiz said the road network from Cagban area to Crossing Rotunda in Manoc-Manoc up to Elizalde property is almost complete.
“May dalawang sections tayo na hindi pa matatapos dahil may problema sa sewerage system at mga poste ng Akelco at telephone companies,” he added.
The Department of Public Works and Highways also conducted field survey on possible opening of new roads from Mount Luho to the four-lane road of Boracay Newcoast and another road in Bulabog area, Ruiz said. (With AkeanForum/PN)
