AKLAN – The local government is optimistic that Boracay Island will achieve its targets in 2024. Visitor arrivals, encompassing both foreign and domestic travelers, are forecast to reach 2.3 million this year.

In 2023, the island recorded 2.15 million tourists, bringing in 452,201 foreign visitors.

Domestic arrivals continue to lead the pandemic rebound, hitting a 4.9 percent increase as compared to 2022 levels.

During the first month of 2024, Boracay Island welcomed 172,913 tourists, with 44,599 foreign visitors and 124,588 domestic travelers.

Despite the growing challenges, Boracay Island is putting a premium on promotional tourist packages to stimulate the ever-evolving inbound tourism markets.

Malay town mayor Floribar Bautista said they have to seize opportunities that boost tourism numbers for Boracay Island and generate a positive impact for the communities.

Kailangan sa mga ganitong travel tour expo at travel mart, dapat nandoon tayo para sa maximum exposure ng Boracay Island at mainland Malay,” the mayor stressed.

Looking ahead to sustain the recovery efforts, a Sunset and Sunrise Party will also take place this February to attract more visitors to the popular beach destination./PN
