Boracay tour guide jailed for ‘selling marijuana’

BORACAY – He was caught selling suspected marijuana in this famed-island resort, police said.

The 31-year-old tour guide Silvino Sauz Jr. Aklan was taken to the municipal police station of Malay, Aklan where he was detained.

Antidrug operatives of Malay arrested Sauz in Barangay Manoc-Manoc around 5 a.m. on Monday after he sold suspected marijuana to an undercover cop.

According to police investigation, Sauz – resident of Aslum, Ibajay and temporarily resides in Barangay Balabag – admitted using marijuana for two years, but he denied his involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Hindi sa akin ang mga droga. Galing ako sa isang bar, pauwi na ako sakay ng motorsiklo mga 2 a.m. nang may humarang sa akin. Sinabihan ako na sumunod sa kanila,” the suspect said after his arrest.

Police recovered from his possession a sachet of suspected marijuana leaves, stem and seeds.

The newly-identified drug suspect allegedly supplied the two marijuana peddlers that were previously nabbed by operatives in Sitio Cagban in Barangay Manoc-Manoc on Sept. 4

Sauz faces charges violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (With a report from Akean Forum/PN)
