BORACAY – This “island paradise” turned into hell Wednesday night for an adventurous “local tourist.”
Jerson Relojero, 29, of Cabayugan, Malinao, Aklan was trying to sell high-powered firearms in Brgy. Balabag when elements of the Aklan Police Provincial Office (APPO) and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) collared him for gunrunning.
The suspected gunrunner ran out of luck when a “prospect” he was talking to turned out to be a police intelligence officer or poseur-buyer.
Recovered from Relojero were a .9mm machine pistol and a caliber .357 Magnum revolver worth P36,000 and P6,000, respectively, plus assorted ammunitions.
According to Senior Supt. Samuel Nacion, APPO director, Relojero had been under surveillance for more than a week when a tipster informed them of his illegal activity in Boracay.
He will be charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition under Republic Act 8294.
Nacion told Panay News that they are now looking for Relojero’s supplier./PN
