WHO could question a mother’s love? This is the purest form of love in my perspective. This is the kind of love that is untainted, unconditional and by far the most powerful.
A mother’s love begins the moment she knew she is heavy with a child. Even if she has not seen her baby yet, her love for the growing human being in her womb is beyond measure. She takes care of herself the best way possible. She makes sure that her baby will experience nothing but the best.
However, this is not only always the case. There are cases when pregnancy is seen as an obstacle or hindrance. Like in the case of a teenager who falls in love for the first time and later finds out she is pregnant. She realizes she’s a victim of teenage pregnancy.
Teenagers during this stage are unsure of decisions they have to make. Oftentimes, in this kind of scenario, they make the wrong choices. Some of them opt for abortion. They choose to end the life of their child. They have reasons, I know. I don’t condemn them. However, it would not end up like this if they only seek the right advice from the right people.
There are those who are brave enough to face the consequences of their actions. They tell their parents and commit to raise the child.
So this is where mother’s love comes in; the love of the teenage mom to her infant and the love of the mother to her teenage daughter.
If the teenage mom does not love her child, perhaps, she would have taken the advice of others to end its life. There are a lot of consequences if you give birth to a child. You will lose your freedom literally. You will stop school for a while. You will have to give up many activities you normally enjoy before. Life will never be the same. For a teenage mom to agree to raise her child is a manifestation of a mother’s love.
In the case of the mother of the teenager, her love is overflowing for her to give her daughter a second chance. It is difficult for parents, especially for mothers, to accept that somewhere along the way they committed a lapse that resulted to early pregnancy. When this happens, if your love for your teenager is not sufficient, you would probably banish her from your home. But no, instead of doing this, you supported her emotionally, financially and spiritually. You consider this situation a challenge and you try your best to make sure that your pregnant daughter will be able to survive this life-changing situation. For me all of these actions are results of a mother’s love.
Another example is when a child is sick; a mother’s love also kicks in. A mother will not sleep comfortably if her child is not feeling well. She would choose to stay up the whole night just to make sure all the needs of her child are met. If there is a need to bring the sick child to the hospital, she will be the one to carry him or her, even if her kid is bigger than she is. If you see this scenario, it will surely break your heart knowing how much a mother is willing to do anything for her kid.
A mother’s love is truly unconditional and immeasurable. You might sometimes wonder where does a mother get all the energy that she has? She will only answer you that what keeps her going is her love.
Today is Valentine’s Day and for me the symbol of true love is a mother’s love. All other kinds of love will fade overtime but a mother’s love is forever. Mother’s love for her offspring will always be there no matter what the circumstances are. She will always remain your prayer warrior, loudest cheerleader, strongest supporter, loyal ally, faithful best friend, trusted confidant, and loving mother all the years of your life.
When all the others have left you in pain, your mother will surely wipe your tears away. She will never leave you. She will always be there to assure you that everything is going to be okay.
A mother’s love is the kind of love every person must emulate, male or female. If everyone practices mother’s love, the world will be a happy place to be. If this is the case, love must be overflowing. Everyone is willing to sacrifice and give a piece of himself or herself to others.
Everyone must be very caring to the needs of others. What a wonderful environment. If we could all learn to be mothers then somehow peace and love will have a chance to reign.
I would like to end with a quote from Pinterest shared by Rachel Martin Findingjoy.net: A real mom: Emotional, ye the rock. Tired, but keeps going. Worried, but full of hope. Impatient, yet patient. Overwhelmed, but never quits. Amazing, even though doubted. Wonderful, even in the chaos. Life changer, every single day.
Happy Valentine’s Day to one and all./PN
