ILOILO – A 12-year-old boy died when their house in Barangay Mulangan, Igbaras town was buried in a landslide around 3:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31.
The casualty, Jonathan Malanum Enar Jr., was sleeping when the landslide occurred.
His father, Jonathan Sr., 50, survived with a small scar on his leg, as well as the victim’s 10-year-old brother.
“Sa information nga aton nabaton, nagakatulog ini sila sang nagluntad ang landslide, rason nga wala gid sila nakapangaman,” said Senior Fire Officer 3 Arturo Adolfo of the Igbaras Fire Station.
Adolfo detailed that the victim was still inside the mosquito net when the rescue and retrieval operation was conducted.
Meanwhile, Police Master Sergeant Confesor Escobañes, chief investigator of the Igbaras police station, said the family’s house was swept away by lose soil and rocks more than 100 meters away./PN
