
ILOILO City – A 14-year-old boy drowned at the Jalaur River in Barangay Tinocuan, Dingle, Iloilo.
Keith Joss Avila Buenavides of the same village was swimming with siblings at around 5 p.m. on March 29 (Maundy Thursday) when he suddenly went missing, investigation by Senior Police Officer 3 Alejandro Loretizo showed.
His siblings thought he went home without asking permission but they did not find him there, police said.
The family searched for Buenavides – a Grade 8 student in a school in Dingle – with the help of the police and a rescue team from the local government.
After two hours, they found the victim’s lifeless body found a few meters from where he last seen swimming, police said.
On April 1 a 20-year-old man almost drowned in Barangay Santo Niño Sur, Arevalo district, police said.
Chucky Labrador of Barangay San Isidro, La Paz was confined at the Intensive Care Unit of The Medical City hospital in Mandurriao.
Labrador was swimming with friends when he suddenly went missing, said Philippine Coast Guard – Iloilo commander Rodolfo Dela Peña.
He was reported missing at 2:45 p.m. He was found after 15 minutes of search, the Coast Guard said./PN
