BACOLOD City – A boy and a man died in separate drowning incidents in Negros Occidental on Saturday, police reports showed.
The 10-year-old Rogel Lew Conaco II of Barangay Boloc-boloc, Sibulan, Negros Oriental drowned in Tinagong Dagat Beach Resort in Barangay 4, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.
Conaco was rescued and rushed to the Sipalay City Health Office where attending physician Robert Ledesma pronounced him “dead on arrival” at around 9:32 a.m, police said.
Later that day, the 56-year-old Jerry Tevez of San Enrique, Negros Occidental also drowned in Bianes Beach in Barangay Miranda, Pontevedra, Negros Occidental.
Ledesma was at the beach with his family to celebrate a birthday, police said.
According to the investigators, Tevez was drunk when he went to the sea and swam.
His family members fished him out of the sea and brought him to the Valladolid District Hospital.
The attending phyisican, however, pronounced Ledesma “dead on arrival” around 1:42 p.m./PN
