BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Real Estate and Development Corp. (Breco) is taking another step toward making this capital city an upscale transshipment hub.
Bredco president Jon Alonte said they are eyeing to invest about P24 billion to reclaim a 300-hectare land in the city this year.
Bredco has previously reclaimed a 250-hectare lot in Bacolod – the area where a port is now operating.
Alonte said they are waiting for the city government’s response on the reclamation request letter they sent last October.
He added that they are also processing other requirements in relation to the “Phase 2 Reclamation Project” while awaiting the Implementing Rules and Regulations from the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA).
Alonte said they are “serious” in making more reclamation projects in Bacolod, adding that these will attract investment.
Asked what would be the features in the proposed reclamation area, Alonte said they “have several ideas” – like facilities for a business district or an export processing zone.
If its request is approved, Bredco – being the developer – will get 52.5 percent of the reclaimed land, while the city government and the PRA will share the remaining 47.5 percent./PN
