ILOILO City – The barangay captain of Sta. Justa, Tibiao, Antique tried to pacify a drunken resident but ended up being stabbed.
Joseph Daras, 41, was treated at the Tibiao District Hospital for a stab wound on Jan. 27.
The suspect, Pedro Casidsid, was arrested by the police.
The stabbing happened around 11 p.m. Daras tried to disarm an unruly Casidsid who was threatening other people with what the locals called an “Indian panâ” (a slingshot using an iron dart as projectile).
Daras managed to get the Indian panâ from Casidsid but he did not know that the suspect was keeping another weapon – a knife.
Police said Casidsid got mad for losing in gambling./PN
