SAN JOSE, Antique – Several government and nongovernment organizations agreed to bolster the antidrug campaign in Antique, especially in the villages.
Theysigned a memorandum of agreement on barangay drug-clearing operations at the AntiquePolice Provincial Office.
Representatives from the following agencies and groups, among others, inked the agreement:
* Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)
* Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)
* Department of Health
* Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office
* Department of Education
* Ligangmga Barangay – Antique chapter
* Technical Education and Skills Development Authority
* Philippine National Police Interfaith Organization – Antique chapter
* PROCESS Foundation, and
* Diocese of Antique.
Oplan Double Barrel, the police’s intensified antidrug campaign, has resulted in the surrender of hundreds of alleged users and pushers in Antique.
The agreement will guide the stakeholders in carrying out programs related to the campaign.
The PDEA will provide general supervision over the drug-clearing operation, while the DILG shall activate the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Councils and prepare action plans.
The DOH, on the other hand, will determine drug personalities to be rehabilitated after evaluation.
A hospital in Valderrama town will be converted into a rehabilitation facility for drug dependents in the province. (PIA/PN)
