ILOILO – The Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Iloilo held a Basic Employment Service Training (BEST) for barangay PESO coordinators.
At Casa Real in Iloilo City on June 30, 91 coordinators – Barangay PESO presidents, secretaries, and officers from 39 municipalities and the component city of Passi – were refreshed on facilitating and assisting the various employment programs and services in their respective barangays.
There were discussions, too, on illegal recruitment and human trafficking modus operandi, the National Skills Registration Program, and sharing of best practices.
“Barangay PESO coordinators should consider themselves not just agents of the national and local governments but as representatives of the people of their barangays,” said PESO chief Francisco Heler Jr.
Present during the training were Provincial Administrator Raul Banias who reiterated Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr.’s vision of MorProGRess Iloilo, and Liga ng mga Barangay president Dorothy Paes.
As of 2023, the Iloilo Provincial PESO has organized coordinators in 1,584 barangays.
These coordinators are force multipliers of municipal PESOs in the implementation of various employment facilitation and protection programs and services at the grassroots./PN
