ILOILO City – An argument over a pillow and a blanket led to the stabbing of a village watchman (barangay tanod) in Barangay Habog-habog, Molo district.

Mark Cocjin, 21, landed at the West Visayas State University Medical Center on Sunday.

The suspect, Antonio Miranda, 58, fled.

Prior to the stabbing, the two had a drinking binge at the wielding shop of Barangay Captain Muñoz and friends that also included a certain Ronnie Salmeron.

When they were done, Cocjin decided to sleep at the shop with Salmeron. He used Miranda’s pillow and blanket.

There was a heated argument between Cocjin and Miranda but Salmeron pacified them.

Miranda left the shop while Cocjin decided to just go home.

As he was walking, Cocjin was suddenly stabbed in the stomach. His suspect was Miranda.

Salmeron brought Cocjin to the Iloilo Doctor’s Hospital initially. The victim was later transferred to the West Visayas State University Medical Center.

As of this writing, Miranda’s whereabouts were unknown./PN
