ILOILO City – A village watchman was arrested in Barangay Pili, Panay, Capiz for stabbing a fishpond caretaker.

Romeo Bacero, 45, was detained at the Panay police station on Jan. 20.

The victim, Edgar Alonzo, was 21.

Bacero was caught around 9 p.m.

According to the police, Bacero chanced upon Alonzo and wife quarrelling and he tried to pacify the couple.

Bacero got mad when the couple chastened him for meddling and he attacked Alonzo with a knife, police said.

Alonzo was brought to the Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital for a wound on a hand./PN
