ILOILO City – The leader of the barangay tanod in Maribong, Lambunao, Iloilo died of a gunshot wound.
Was 40-year-old Andy Crucero killed? Did he shot himself?
Crucero died while being rushed to the Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Sr. Memorial District Hospital in adjacent Calinog town minutes after he was found bloodied in front of his house in Barangay Maribong on Saturday around 10:10 p.m.
According to Chief Inspector Dennis Pamonag, Lambunao police chief, members of Crucero’s family heard a burst of gunfire outside their house and checked what happened. They saw the tanod on the ground bleeding from gunshot wound on the right side of his body.
The family gave conflicting statements. Some members believed this was a case of suicide while others believed Crucero was attacked, said Pamonag.
As of this writing, Lambunao police investigators were yet to conclude the investigation.
An autopsy may be conducted.
Pamonag said Crucero did not have any police record nor was the tanod linked to illegal drugs./PN
