BACOLOD City — Barangay workers in Negros Occidental have availed themselves of the insurance program of the provincial government.
Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. yesterday led the awarding of insurance to barangay health workers, tanods, officials, and employees at the capitol here.
The capitol has allotted a total of P2 million for barangay health workers.
About 5,555 health workers received insurance of P50,000 to P100,000 and P5,000 for medical reimbursements on accidents.
Some 8,700 barangay tanods and 6,522 officials and employees also availed themselves of the program.
The provincial government has allotted P38.6 million for the tanods’ insurance and has already given out some P28 million for about 500 tanods who either died or were disabled./PN
