MANILA – Filipino-Hawaiian fighter Brian Viloria will have another shot at a world title when he faces Artem Dalakian of Azerbaijan in a WBA flyweight match on Feb. 24 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

The 30-year-old Dalakian was originally the mandatory challenger to Kazuto Ioka of Japan but the latter recently decided to let go of the WBA flyweight belt.

This will be the 37-year-old Viloria’s second chance to take a WBA world championship after losing to Mexican boxer Juan Francisco Estrada in April 2013 at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China.

After a two-year hiatus, Viloria won two previous matches – against Mexican Ruben Montoya and American fighter Miguel Cartagena.

“Age doesn’t matter in this sport. It’s how you treat yourself and prepare for each fight,” said Viloria, a former two-division world champion. “I just want another shot at a world title before retiring.”

Viloria will parade an impressive 38-5-0 win-loss-draw record, including 23 victories by way of knockout, while Dalakian has an unblemished 15-0-0 record, with 11 stoppage wins.

The Viloria-Dalakian match will be one of the three world title matches in “Superfly 2,” which also features a matchup between WBC junior bantamweight champ Srisaket Sor Rungvisai and Estrada.

This will also be Dalakian’s second time to face a Filipino fighter after defeating Juan Purisima for the WBA International flyweight championship in 2013 in Donetsk, Ukraine./PN
