AND THE dangling conversation about “I Am Iloilo City’s” sole power distribution utility, MORE Electric and Power Corporation a.k.a. MORE Power continues simply because there’s still more coming from MORE Power.
For starters, the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP) and MORE Power recently concluded a three-day surgical healthcare mission in Iloilo City and Province from June 4-6, 2024, marking a significant milestone in their collaborative efforts. This initiative delivered P12-13 million worth of free, high-quality surgical care to the underserved population.
According to Dr. Lester Suntay, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of WSFP, their mission is to ensure quality surgical healthcare, and their vision is to collaborate with various sponsors, stakeholders and local government units (LGUs) like MORE Power and the city and province of Iloilo to make this possible.
Over the course of the three-day mission, a total of 289 surgical procedures were conducted across two hospitals. Dr. Suntay expressed his gratitude, saying, “With the support of MORE Power and other sponsors, we provided free services as surgeons and anesthesiologists. We couldn’t have achieved this without our funders. We are particularly grateful for our partnership with MORE Power.”
MORE Power president and CEO Roel Castro, added, “MORE Power is very happy to assist and facilitate this Surgical Medical Mission. And we are grateful to the Iloilo provincial and city governments and WSFP for this program. We hope it will continue every year. Rest assured, MORE Power will always be your partner for the betterment of Iloilo City and Province.” Just another day for your friendly neighborhood power distribution utility totally committed to fulfilling their Corporate Social Responsibility.
Moving on, and we’re saving the best part of the conversation for last.
In four years of excellent service to the citizens of “I Am Iloilo City”, MORE Power has been pushing boundaries in finding the best ways of securing a better and brighter future for the Ilonggos by working on the present.

These distribution infrastructure development investments, which by the way is not a one-off thing but a continuous process, showcases a new era of innovation, progress that is MORE Power’s vision for a brighter Iloilo.
One can’t help but compare all these massive investments and infrastructure developments all geared for a better and brighter future for “I am Iloilo City” in just four years to the almost a century under the watch of the former power provider whose investments amounted to nil.
Finally, as “I Am Iloilo City” Mayor Jerry Treñas said recently, “I am so happy with our power distribution utility, MORE Power, for their investments in Iloilo City. While there are issues in the supply at times, services have improved a lot. There are still challenges but together we will overcome them.”
Indeed, “MORE Power is an indispensable partner in the city’s development.”/PN
