BACOLOD City – Jealousy was what drove a man to stab his older brother to death in Sitio Luwas, Barangay Locotan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 24-year-old resident Raffy Sondia was arrested and detained at the Kabankalan City police station.
He allegedly attacked the 30-year-old Alfred Sondia, a laborer, using a knife around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Raffy fled after the stabbing but police were able to catch him.
On the other hand, Alfred – who sustained stab wounds on the body – was rushed to the Kabankalan City Hospital in Barangay Tabugon and later transferred to the Lorenzo D. Zayco Hospital also in Kabankalan, police said.
Alfred was once again transferred, this time to the Corazon Locsin Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City where he expired at around 1:10 a.m. on Sunday.
According to their 62-year-old father Romeo, Raffy and Alfred had an altercation that resulted in a fistfight on Saturday. The stabbing then followed.
Romeo said he and his wife equally loves all six their children.
It was not immediately clear if charges were filed against Raffy./PN
