Brooklyn’s 4th qtr rally stuns Knicks

NEW YORK – Brooklyn Nets used a huge fourth quarter uprising to upset New York Knicks, 111-106, in the 2021-2022 NBA Season on Wednesday night (Thursday in the Philippines) at the Madison Square Garden.

Cameron Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge and Seth Curry took turns on the offensive end in the fourth quarter as the revamped Nets notched its second straight victory for a 31-27 standings.

Down by as much as 28 points in the first half and by 18 early in the fourth, the Nets got consecutive points from Curry, Aldridge and Thomas to take a 99-97 lead with two minutes left.

The Knicks notched the lead for the last time at 101-99 on back-to-back hits by Julius Randle but a three-pointer by Curry and an inside hit by Aldridge gave the Nets a 104-101 edge.

New York made its last push at 103-104 but another inside conversion by Aldridge followed by a triple by Thomas widened Brooklyn’s advantage to 109-103 with seven seconds left.

Thomas finished the match with 21 points, with 16 coming in the fourth quarter, Curry added 20 markers, including six outside hits, while Aldridge had double-double 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Nets.

James Johnson also had a solid outing with 14 points, while Andre Drummond hauled 19 rebounds to go with 11 points for Brooklyn, which were without Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons and Joe Harris.

Randle had double-double 31 points and 10 rebounds, while Immanuel Quickley and Evan Fournier had 18 and 16 markers, respectively, as the Knicks dropped to 25-34.

Meanwhile, Jerami Grant drilled a game-winning basket as the Detroit Pistons snapped its eight-game losing skid with a 112-111 triumph over Boston Celtics.

Down 103-108, the Pistons converted five consecutive points from Grant and Saddiq Bey before taking a 110-108 edge on an inside conversion from Bey.

The Celtics notched the lead for the last time at 111-110 on a triple by Al Horford but Grant responded with an inside hit to give the Pistons a 112-111 lead with 19 seconds left.
