GUIMARAS – Hundreds of aspirants from 22 barangays of Nueva Valencia town in Guimaras committed to a peaceful, orderly and fair conduct of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections this Oct. 30.

A unity walk and covenant signing were held at the municipal covered gym in Barangay Poblacion on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14, organized by the Nueva Valencia Municipal Police Station headed by Major Ahlie V. Estember, in collaboration with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) headed by Nicanor E. Segovia, Election Officer III.

The activity was also attended by Pastor Ryan M. Simbahan, other religious sector representatives and the Philippine Coast Guard.

In addition, the Comelec organized a briefing on campaign rules and regulations.

The official campaign period is from Oct. 19 to Oct. 28.

Nueva Valencia, one of the five towns in Guimaras, has the second most number of barangays in the province. It is composed of barangays Cabalagnan, Calaya, Canhawan, Concordia Sur, Dolores, Guiwanon, Igang, Igdarapdap, La Paz, Lanipe, Lucmayan, Magamay, Napandong, Oracon Sur, Pandaraonan, Panobolon, Poblacion, Salvacion, San Antonio, San Roque, Santo Domingo, and Tando./PN
