BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) has moved to a new location inside the compound of the City Agriculture Office in Barangay Alijis here.

City Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said the old office located at Bazket-Bacolod could not be developed by BTAO as it is privately owned. BTAO only rented the area for P70,000 a month.

BTAO head Patrick Lacson also told a local radio station that the former facility failed the Commission on Audit’s requirements.

The current BTAO site, Gelvolea said, was previously an abandoned structure which was supposedly intended for the city’s drug treatment and rehabilitation center.

Despite the recent transfer, the city administrator revealed that the city government is eyeing the possibility of constructing a new building for BTAO.

She mentioned a pending proposed ordinance for the creation of the transportation and traffic department at the city’s property in the Reclamation Area.

The proposed ordinance is currently in its second reading in the City Council./PN
