Buenavista police station best in Guimaras

ILOILO City – Buenavista was hailed as the best municipal police station (MPS) in the island province of Guimaras for the first quarter this year.
The MPS led by Captain Jeffrey Ferrer received the award during the 119th Police Service Anniversary rites of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) at Camp Lilia in Barangay Alaguisoc, Jordan, on Aug. 10.
This year’s celebration carried the theme “Towards A Pandemic-Resilient Philippine National Police: Deploying Digital Technologies and Adopting Protective Protocols in The New Normal.”
Gov. Samuel Gumarin served as guest of honor and speaker during GPPO’s celebration. He also led the distribution of awards with GPPO director, Colonel Pablito Asmod Jr.

Gumarin lauded the efforts of the police in implementing the guidelines and protocols against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) set by the Guimaras COVID-19 Response Executive Committee.  
Buenavista MPS was also awarded as top performer in the campaign against the arrest of wanted persons.
Jordan MPS, meanwhile, was recognized as top performer in the campaign against illegal fishing; San Lorenzo MPS, campaign against loose firearms; and Sibunag MPS, most friendly municipal police station. 

As of Aug. 15, Guimaras has recorded 52 cases of COVID-19.
Twelve are local cases while the other 40 are locally stranded individuals and repatriated overseas Filipinos./PN
