Buenavista regulates public transport, business hours

ILOILO City – Mayor Eugene Reyes issued Executive Order (EO) No. 44 regulating business hours, public transport and movement of people in the municipality of Buenavista, Guimaras starting today, Aug. 20.

The directive is in response to the rising number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the island province.

“There is a need to rigorously implement preventive measures for the safety of the residents of the municipality,” read part of Reyes’ EO.

Reyes ordered the following measures under his directive:

BUSINESS HOURS
* business establishments shall be allowed to open not earlier than 6:00 a.m. and shall close not later than 4 p.m., except public markets which are allowed to open from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
* operation of pump boats are allowed from sunrise to sunset with up to 50 percent of its authorized capacity

* operation of public utility jeepneys plying the route of Buenavista wharf to Barangay Mclain are allowed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. only
* operation of tricycles are allowed from 6 p.m. to 5 p.m. only. A backrider is not allowed

* single motorcycles used as public conveyances remain prohibited

* in all instances, the operator, driver or crew concerned are responsible to disinfect/sanitize his/her vehicle

*
Residents who are below 21 years old or above 59 years old, are prohibited from going out of their houses, except for essential travel such as medical and those that will result to loss of life, liberty and property

* movement of residents is limited to only accessing basic necessities

* application of physical distancing in all public areas is strictly imposed

* mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields in public places is strictly observed

The island province has 72 cases of COVID-19 as of Aug. 18 based on its official Facebook page Province of Guimaras.  

Thirty one of these are local cases while the other 41 are locally stranded individuals, repatriated Guimarasnon overseas workers and authorized persons outside of residence.

Buenavista has the highest number of active COVID-19 cases with 16, followed by Jordan with eight, Nueva Valencia with six, and Sibunag with three./PN
