BACOLOD City – Injection Point 1 of the bulk water supply project of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) will be operational by October, the contractor said.

Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) will hold a ribbon-cutting there on Oct. 12, Chairman Ryan Yapkianwee told Bacolod Water Consumers Watch, Inc. in a meeting yesterday.

Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr., chairman of the consumer group, presided the meeting at the Sangguniang Panlungsod session hall.

On March 2, 2016, Baciwa signed a P1.1-billion, 25-year bulk water supply contract with BBWI, a consortium of Mactan Rock Industries, Inc., Tubig Pilipinas Group, Inc. and TGV Builders, Inc.

The project will have two injection points: one in Barangay Granada and another in Barangay Mansilingan.

Under the contract, BBWI must deliver bulk water from its injection points by October.

But Yapkianwee said Injection Point 2 will open late. They aim to make it operational by December yet, he said, citing “force majeure,” which included the processing of the permits and application for the road right-of-way, among others.

“We will give them a chance to fulfill their promise. I know what their problems are,” said Baciwa general manager Juliana Carbon./PN
