BACOLOD City – A kagawad died after his motorcycle collided with a bus on Osmeña Avenue, Barangay 6, Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
Major Joy Ellaga, deputy chief of the Victorias City Police Station, said the victim identified as Elvir Loraez, 64, and a resident of the city’s Barangay 12, was about to cross the road on his way home when the accident happened at around 10:47 p.m. on Monday, August 5.
Ellaga said the victim failed to see the approaching bus.
Loraez was rushed to the nearest hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police added that the victim was not wearing a helmet.
Meanwhile, the bus driver identified as alias “Rod”, 41, and his passengers were unharmed.
The driver was detained at the Victorias City Police Station.
Major Ellaga said the bus company had coordinated with the victim’s family./PN
