BACOLOD City – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Negros Island Region is ensuring the faster processing of business permits and licenses.
DTI provincial director Lea Gonzales said this came as an order from President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We have a new marching order from the president, where before, getting a mayor’s permit would require five days and the renewal three days,” she said.
Gonzales disclosed that there was a Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC) among DTI, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for faster processing of permits and licenses.
The JMC would allow the number of days to get a business permit trimmed down to two days, while the renewal would only be one day, she added.
For business name registration from DTI Negosyo Centers, the process would take 15 minutes upon the arrival of the client at the transaction area.
“In fact, if the connectivity and internet is okay, we can do it in 5 minutes,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales said DTI will try to add more tellers at their Negosyo Centers to reduce queuing.
The province has centers in the cities of Sagay, Kabankalan, La Carlota, San Carlos, Victorias and at the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Center in Bacolod City.
Centers in Hinigaran town and Bacolod City will also be put up before the year ends.
The JMC circular, dated Aug. 30, 2016, mandates all cities and municipalities, as well as the offices of DILG, DTI, DICT, and the Bureau of Fire Protection to implement the revised standards in processing business permits and licenses. (PIA/PN)
