BACOLOD City – As the festive season approaches and consumers start gearing up for the Christmas holidays, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Negros Occidental is keeping a close watch on Christmas light sales across the province.
Engr. Lynna Joy Cardinal, DTI-Negros Occidental director, stressed in a recent radio interview the importance of the Philippine Standard (PS) Quality and Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) markings.
These certifications guarantee that Christmas lights meet safety and quality standards under Philippine product laws.
Cardinal reassured the public that, to date, inspections have revealed no instances of substandard or uncertified Christmas lights on sale.
She further said retailers had been informed about which product brands comply with DTI regulations.
With an emphasis on consumer safety, the DTI-Negros Occidental is urging the public to resist the temptation of lower-priced, uncertified lights. These could pose serious risks and dangers, potentially turning festive decorations into hazards.
The DTI’s vigilance aims to ensure a safe and bright holiday season for all. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
