THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) assured travelers that all airports across the country are geared up for the expected influx of passengers on Holy Week.
CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said additional personnel will be deployed especially during peak hours as part of Transport Secretary Vince Dizon’s marching order.
“Nakahanda na po lahat ‘yung 44 airports. Meron ho tayong Malasakit help desk, ‘yung ating medical personnel at saka ‘yung ating mga security personnel naka-ready ho ‘yan,” he said in a television interview yesterday.
Apolonio added: “Wala nga hong mga leave at cancel muna ngayon para masilbihan lahat ng pangangailangan ng ating mga pasahero.”
He also reminded travelers of prohibited inflight items including power banks exceeding 160 Wh (watt-hours).
Airlines allow power banks below 160 Wh as long as they are not placed in hand-carry bags stowed in overhead bins, according to Apolonio.
“Pero ina-allow naman po ‘yan ng mga airlines sa loob provided ‘wag niyo ilagay sa hand carry or luggage niyo, ilagay sa ibabaw ng overhead bin. Dapat po nasa kasama niyo lang, dun sa baba ng o sa side pocket sa aircraft po.”
He also advised passengers not to bring other prohibited items to the aircraft to avoid getting flagged during screening.
“‘Yung mga illegal items talaga, ‘yung mga bala nga ‘yan, ‘yung mga vape, bawal na bawal po ‘yan, at saka mga battery-operated na gadget, ‘yan po ‘yung talagang pinagbabawal. At ina-advise natin ‘yung mga pasahero na sana ‘wag na nilang dalhin dahil nakikita rin naman sa final x-ray, nakukumpiska po ‘yan,” he stated. (ABS-CBN News)
