ANTIQUE – Governor Rhodora Cadiao said to the people of Antique to isolate if they have symptoms of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) to avoid the spread of the virus to their family members.
This reminder of Cadiao is due to the sudden rise of COVID-19 cases in Antique, with 212 active cases on Wednesday, January 12.
The sudden rise of COVID-19 cases in Antique pushed the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to put the province of Antique in Alert Level 3 starting Friday, January 14 until January 31.
“Since the disease is fast spreading and affects the whole household, immediate isolation of individuals with symptoms is necessary so as not to affect other members, and seek medical advice if needed,” according to the official statement of Cadiao yesterday morning, January 13.
Cadiao reminds the Antiqueños to avoid gatherings that involved people that are not immediate family members.
According to Cadiao, the mean reason why Antique is under Alert level 3 is because of cases listed reached 1,000 growth rates.
“The basis for our Level 3 classification is the fast increase in the number of cases (growth rate of 1,000 percent,” Cadiao added.
Cadiao also said that the province will remain at moderate risk or 35 percent of hospital utilization rate because most positive cases are asymptomatic and undergo a home quarantine.
To maintain the low health care utilization rate of health facilities in the province, Cadiao ordered the 18 towns to manage their primary health care facilities as the temporary treatment and monitoring facilities for isolation and mild cases.
“To maintain the stability of our hospitals, mild cases should be handled by primary health care facilities to economize our hospital resources,” Cadiao said.
As of Wednesday, January 12, the total active cases of the province are 212. These 212 cases are from different towns such as: San Jose (111), Sibalom (18), Tibiao (15), Hamtic (13), San Remigio (11), Bugasong (7), Laua-an (6), Belison (5), Patnongon (5), Culasi (4), Tobias Fornier (4), Valderrama (4), Barbaza (3), Caluya (3), Pandan (2), and Anini-y (1)./PN
