Cadiz City athletes shine in WVRAA Meet

SAN JOSE, Antique – Cadiz City-based athletes showcased their dominance with gold medal finishes in the WVRAA Meet 2025 held recently at the Binirayan Sports Complex here.

Para-swimmer Zach Lucas Obsioma finished with three gold medals in the 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter backstroke, and 50-meter breaststroke events of the orthopedically handicapped (OH) category.

Obsioma’s victory continues his winning streak, having also clinched three golds at the WVRAA Meets in 2024 and 2023. He also brought home two golds and one silver medal in the 64th Palarong Pambansa, held in Cebu City last year.

Meanwhile, Cadiz’s badminton team also had an impressive showing, securing multiple medals across various categories.

In the secondary boys, Lovic Javier captured a gold medal in the singles, Cris Ivan Dosano had a silver medal in the same category, while AJ Laurence Jurada and Reynier Dalimo-os notched gold medals in doubles event,

In the secondary girls category, Alexis Repetillo claimed a gold medal in the singles event, Valerie Marcial and Marionet De Dios won a gold in the doubles, while AJ Laurence Jurada and Blessy Faith Engle also ended with a gold.

In the elementary boys, Ryan John Broniola finished with a gold medal in the singles event, while Theo Jude Depositario and Joshua Layao bagged a gold in the doubles event.

In the elementary girls category, Blessy May Villaflor and Ydrianna Balista bagged doubles gold, while Ryan John Broniola and Blessy May Villaflor also ended with a gold in the elementary mixed doubles event.
