BACOLOD City – The Cadiz City government is expecting to gain more than a billion pesos in revenue from the recently concluded 49th Dinagsa Festival celebrated in honor of Senior Santo Niño de Cadiz.

Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. said the city government spent almost P20 million on over 60 activities for this year’s two weeks of celebration.

He explained that liquor sales alone is estimated at P70 million. Revenues from accommodation and food, among others, are not included yet.

Escalante also said the celebration was peaceful.

The crowd joining the highlights day, Jan. 29, as of 1 p.m., was estimated to be around 500,000, according to the Philippine National Police.

The highlight of the celebration was the street dance competition of the eight tribes, namely: Tribu Majeca, Tribu Sicablun Quatro, Tribu Manara, Tribu Yab-Yab Doongol, Tribu Tigbanda, Tribu Hitalon, Tribu Tinambitres, and Tribu Bucadcad.

Revelers also enjoyed smearing water-based paint on each other in the “Lamhitanay sa Dalan”./PN
