BACOLOD City – In a move to centralize efforts against coronavirus disease 2019, the provincial government of Negros Occidental designated the Cadiz City District Hospital as exclusive facility for patients infected with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Eugenio Jose Lacson recently issued a memorandum establishing the health facility to serve solely patients under investigation (PUIs) and COVID-19 positive Negrenses who are considered to have mild and moderate cases. They shall receive proper treatment until they are fit to be discharged.

The memorandum also said that all PUIs and COVID-19 positive patients with serious cases shall be immediately referred to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here, and will also receive proper treatment until they are fit to be discharged.

Meanwhile, the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City readied an inflatable tent as containment facility outside of the hospital premises for COVID-19 patients.

This city, as of March 22, has one COVID-19 positive patient – a 56-year-old man. He is the first confirmed case in Bacolod and Western Visayas.

Department of Health in Western Visayas director Dr. Marlyn Convocar said the patient is stable, recovering, and in complete isolation in a hospital in the city./PN
