BACOLOD City – Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr. of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental has ordered an inspection of the public park’s electrical systems after a seven-year-old boy died of electrocution on the premises.
According to Escalante, the city has decided to temporarily close down the park until further notice after learning about the incident.
The city was supposed to hold a Christmas lighting ceremony tonight.
Escalante said they will make an announcement once they secure the electrical system and the park is ready for reopening.
He has also assured the victim’s family of aid from the city government.
On Saturday night, the seven-year-old was playing inside the park when he accidentally touched an open wire from the ground lighting.
Paramedics tried to revive the victim, but he was declared dead upon arrival at the city’s emergency clinic. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
