BADMINTON players from the North Negros College (NNC) in Cadiz City captured their sixth consecutive NOPSSCEA Season 38 men’s badminton championship recently at the Pohang Badminton Center in Bacolod City.

Bannering the championship squad of NNC head coach Jordan Sun this season are siblings Kerr and Kenneth Longno, brothers Jaylord and Clifford Nicor, and Jason Pampag.

Sun credited the team’s preparation, which was still the same when the school won its first NOPSSCEA championship six years ago behind the likes Ernesto Layao and Robert Aloyan.

“We have almost the same training program implemented daily. It is just that we as coaches and trainers wanted the players to be more serious and committed so that we will be more aggressive in implementing the training in a higher level,” he said.

“We need to work hard as a team for us to achieve our main goal,” he added. “We were able to maintain our national championship, and that is something we are very proud of.”

With NOPSSCEA now over, Sun said he hopes his wards will sustain their aggressiveness as they hope to add up to their four championships so far this year.

“Winning our six-peat is not just about us from Cadiz. This is all about our team in Negros Occidental as a whole representing NOPSSCEA in the National PRISAA (Meet).” Sun said. “We hope to continue our aggressiveness, our determination to win championships.”/PN
