MANILA ā€“ Filipino-Swede Andreas Cahilig, Jeron Teng and Kiefer Ravena are participating in the PBA Rookie Draft on Oct. 29.

Cahilig, whose father Reynoso traces his roots in Aklan, said getting drafted for PBA will be a dream come true for him and his family.

ā€œIt has been my family and relativesā€™ long-awaited dream to see me play in the PBA,ā€ said Cahilig, who was part of the two-time PBA D-League champion Cignal HD Hawkeyes.

Despite playing with a crowded backcourt in Hawkeyes, 3-point gunner Cahilig delivered decent numbers, averaging 12 points and 3.5 rebounds in almost 12 minutes of play.

ā€œI want to be more consistent,ā€ said the former Eulogio ā€œAmangā€ Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology standout.

ā€œRight now, Iā€™ve been shooting really good from the 3-point line but it hasnā€™t always been that, so I need to keep it up. I need to be stronger,ā€ he added.

Other half-foreigner players who threw their hat in the draft were Christian Standhardinger, Jason Perkins, Davon Potts, Robbie Herndon, Julian Sargent, Felix Apreku, and Zachary Nichols.

Teng, a former De La Salle Green Archers star, submitted his application form yesterday.

In the D-League, Teng averaged 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.4 assists for AMA Online Education in the Aspirantsā€™ Cup.

He followed this up by averaging 22.15 points, 6.85 rebounds and 5.77 assists per game for Flying V in the Foundation Cup.

Teng was also part of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas team that competed in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup in Chenzhou, China recently.

ā€œI think Iā€™m ready,ā€ said Teng, 23. ā€œIā€™ve been working hard to improve every day, working hard on my weaknesses and improving on what I can improve on.ā€

Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena, as of press time, has also declared his intent to join the Draft.

As of press time, the former Ateneo Blue Eagles star was set to file his application via his agent, Marvin Espiritu.

Like Teng, Ravena played for Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas in the 2017 FIBA Asia Champions Cup where he averaged 20.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.3 steals in about 30 minutes of play.

He has also won a record four Southeast Asian Games gold medals and represented the Philippines in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in Nantes, France this year.

Other locals who have submitted their applications were Raymar Jose, Christian de Chavez, JonJon Gabriel, Arvie Bringas, Biboy Enguio, Rey Nambatac, John Karlo Casino, Emil Palma, and Sidney Onwubere.

More notable players Thomas Torres, Louie Vigil, Jaymart Perez, and Robert Bolick are also expected to file their applications before the deadline. (With ABS-CBN Sports/PN)
