MANILA – California Precision-Sports continued its strong showing with a 2-0 start in the VolleyPrep Volleyball Club Championship 2021 on Saturday at the Naga College Foundation Volleyball Center in Naga City.
Led by Casiey Dongallo, Jelai Gajero and Kizzie Madriaga, California Precision-Sports walloped Bacolod City’s Cherry Tiggo Thunderbolts in straight sets, 25-22, 25-22.
California Precision-Sports also scored a 25-13, 25-13 domination over Parañaque Lady Green Berrets to move a win away of securing a top-seed in Pool A heading into the crossover semifinals today.
The Jerry Yee-mentored California Precision-Sports wowed the volleyball fans following their strong showing in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation Champions League women’s division.
The California Precision-Sports pulled off one of the biggest stunners in the said competition by beating Premier Volleyball League team Petro Gazz Angels in five sets.
Meanwhile, prior to losing to California Precision-Sports, the Chery Tiggo Crossovers came from a 25-20, 25-11 domination over Tacloban City Red Stallions.
Crossovers team captain Katherine Shaine Cortez was efficient with her setting and timely offense in the lopsided victory, which lasted for only 49 minutes.
ABCamp Baguio, behind incoming University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons rookies Zen Basilio and Negrense Alyssa Bertolano, split their first two matches in Pool B.
The Baguio-based team bowed to Fourth District Nueva Ecija, 25-22, 21-25, 26-24, before recovering with a 25-19, 13-25, 25-23 win over Kings Montessori School Lady Vikings.
The Lady Vikings, which was led by Ilongga Kieara Almirante, dropped to 0-2 win-loss record in Pool B following a 25-20, 25-21 defeat at the hands of Monolith Tigers./PN
