ILOILO – The local government unit (LGU) of Calinog allocated up to P2 million for the procurement of vaccines against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Their target, according to Mayor Francisco Calvo, is to inoculate about 5,000 health frontliners and elderly residents.
The LGU also plans to vaccinate barangay officials, Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams, volunteers, and personnel of the Municipal Health Office (MHO) and quarantine facilities.
Calvo said he and the MHO personnel already visited all 59 barangays in Calinog to conduct surveys and vaccination campaigns.
“Willing gid katama ang mga tawo magpa-vaccine,” Calvo told Panay News. “Gusto da man nga ma–protektahan ang ila mga kaugalingon.”
The mayor stressed he is ready to be publicly injected to encourage more Calinognons to also avail themselves of the vaccine.
Calvo was included in the government’s adjusted priority list for COVID-19 vaccination together with five other mayors in this province./PN
