CERES Negros hopes to continue its domination on Stallion Laguna when the two teams tangle anew in the 2018 Philippines Football League tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
Game time is 7 p.m. Ceres targets to continue improving its 12-2-2 win-loss-draw slate (38 points) while Stallion eyes to move up from its 7-0-6 card (18 points).
This will be the fourth meeting between the two teams. Ceres won their three previous matches on May 26 (3-2), May 30 (6-2) and on Wednesday (2-0).
Despite their previous wins, Ceres head coach Risto Vidakovic remains wary, especially with the defending champion still playing without some of its key players due to injuries.
āThere are still a number of players who are out due to injuries,ā Vidakovic said. āSome of them might be available because we need to change to also refresh the other players.ā
Stallion head coach Ernest Nierras said they will try to give their all against the powerhouse Ceres as they aim to move closer to the third spot in the standings.
āCeres is the defending champion. If you want to progress in football, you have to beat Ceres,ā said Nierras.
But Nierras dismissed the idea that the Busmen are infallible.
āJust like any other team, we are here to try to win our matches. There is no team in the PFL right now that is unbeatable,ā he said.
Leading the way for Ceres are Stephan Schrock, Jeffrey Christiaens, Mike Ott, Manuel Herrera, Martin Steuble, Kevin Ingreso, Sean Kane, Takumi Uesato, and Toni Doblas.
Stallion, meanwhile, will bank on Ruben Doctora, Benito Rosalia, Matthew Nierras, Terrence Linatoc, Nathaniel Alquiros, Carlo Polli, Jan Jesus Melliza, Abou Sy, and Reynald Villareal./PN
