BACOLOD City – At first, it only emitted smoke. It then burned.
A cane harvester worth P30 million set itself on fire at Hacienda San Lucas in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, a police report showed.
It was Antoni Pastor, a shop supervisor at the hacienda, who reported the incident to the Kabankalan City police.
According to the report, operator Ismael Basilio, 60, noticed that smoke came out of the cane harvester’s engine.
When Basilio turned off the harvester’s battery switch, it flamed.
The cause of the fire was still undetermined as of this writing./PN
