BACOLOD City – The chief of Canlaon District Hospital was shot dead around 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday, along the national highway in Sitio Tinangon, Barangay Basak, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.
Superintendent Mario Baquiran, Guihulngan police head, identified the victim as Chief Medical Officer IV Dr. Adelex Amor, 42, married and resident of Dumaguete City.
Three unidentified suspects were allegedly responsible in the killing.
Amor was driving his Toyota Vios, bearing plate number A7X 907, while on his way home to Dumaguete City when he was shot dead.
He reportedly slowed down his vehicle due to on-going road construction in the area when he disembarked his car to urinate. This was when one of the suspects approached him and shot Amor several times at close range. The suspects then fled immediately headed south on their motorcycle.
Amor’s companion Rosly Tobias Aldojesa, who was inside the car during the shooting, witnessed the killing.
Responding police personnel and the Rescue Team of Guihulngan City immediately brought the victim to Guihulngan District Hospital but he was declared “dead on arrival” by the attending physician.
Recovered from the scene of the crime were four fired cartridges of caliber .45 pistol.
Superintendent Wilfredo Lugo, Canlaon City police head, disclosed that prior to the killing, Amor had a misunderstanding with several employees of the Canlaon District Hospital who filed a police blotter regarding the incident.
On the other hand, Amor had also reported to police that he was receiving death threats.
The police are looking into personal grudges as a motive for the killing, noting that the suspect or suspects may have hired gunmen to undertake the killing./PN
