BACOLOD City – Councilor Ricardo “Cano” Tan is no longer with Grupo Progreso (GP).
Tan said this yesterday, adding that there are “leadership problems and political crisis” in the local political group that is led by Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.
Tan – the No. 1 councilor in Bacolod – added that he “seriously” considers joining the mayoralty race next year.
He also welcomed Abang Lingkod party-list representative Stephen Paduano’s transfer of voting registration.
Paduano – who was previously registered in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental – is now a voter of Barangay Mandalagan in this capital city.
Paduano re-registered on Saturday. He said it takes him about two hours to go to E.B. Magalona from Bacolod every election just to vote.
He added that he, in fact, is a resident of Bacolod.
Paduano earlier said he won’t be retiring from politics just yet.
In next year’s midterm elections, he said he will either seek reelection, or run for mayor or congressman in Bacolod City.
Tan said this only means that Paduano is “discontented” with GP.
Paduano is a supporter of GP, said City Executive Assistant Sammy Montoyo.
Montoyo added that Paduano was present at GP’s campaign activities during the May 2016 elections that was why he got 56,000 votes in Bacolod./PN
