Capisnon kid wins in South Korea math tilt

CAPIZ – A Capisnon student won a silver medal in the World Math Invitational (WMI) Finals held in Incheon, South Korea from July 14 to 18.

Ellen Charice Arevalo of Jamindan town is a Grade 7 student at Capiz National High School.

Ellen Charice and two others from Western Visayas — Gihun Ng Yoo of Iloilo City and Rylai Trabado Inocencio of Iloilo Province – were among the members of the Philippine Team that competed in the international math competition.

The WMI is a comprehensive competition participated by 17 countries around the world. Students from kindergarten to senior high school can participate in this event that covers different areas of mathematics.

Ellen Charice is the daughter of Capiz 2nd District’s Board Member Elmer “Nonoy” Arevalo and Dr. Nelyn Valdemar Arevalo.

In December 2022, she also won gold in the International Math and Science Competition in Singapore./PN
