Capitol begins accepting scholarship applications

ILOILO – The provincial government has started accepting applications for the Iskolar sang Iloilo Program (ISIP) on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

A total of 125 students – 25 from each of the province’s five districts – will be selected for the program.

Who is qualified to apply?

* a first year college student enrolled in any state university or college in Iloilo

* applicants with a senior high school general weighted average of at least 90 percent

* bonafide resident of the province of Iloilo

* with an annual family income of not more than P180,000

Application process

* The scholar submits a copy of the school’s registration form to the ISIP Secretariat upon admission to the program.

* The scholar submits a Certificate of Attendance at the end of every month.

* At the end of every semester, the scholars submit a copy of their grades to the ISIP Secretariat.

The documentary requirements are the following: fully accomplished ISIP application form, Certificate of Residency issued by the barangay captain, Certificate of Indigency issued by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office/Income Tax Return (ITR) issued by the Bureau of Internal Revenue, valid identification card with picture and signature, Senior High School Form 138, registration form from state university or college where enrolled, picture of house, vicinity sketch of residence, and 1×1 picture.

ISIP beneficiaries could avail themselves of the following:

* food and fare allowance – P3,500 per month

* learning resource assistance – P3,000 per semester

* on-the-job training allowance – P20 per hour

* thesis or research assistance – P5,000/graduating scholar

* cash incentives upon graduation: graduate – P1,000; cum laude – P3,000; magna cum laude – P5,000; and summa cum laude – P7,000

* Human Resource Management and Development Office on the third floor, Iloilo Provincial Capitol

* Office of the Mayor of your respective municipalities

* Office of the Student Affairs or Services

An ISIP scholar will have the following duties:

* Maintain a semestral weighted average grade of 2.5 and no grade lower than 3 in any subject.

* Maintain a full load per semester, except in cases due to a valid reason, subject to the approval of the Provincial Scholarship Management Board.

* The scholar shall make himself or herself available during meetings, conferences and trainings as the program may call upon.

* To finish the course within the prescribed period

* Scholars are required to open a savings account with the main branch of the Land Bank of the Philippines on Iznart Street, Iloilo City, and secure an ATM card to access and facilitate easy withdrawal of monthly allowances and other payments from any ATM kiosk.
