ILOILO – Are you an Ilonggo in conflict-mired Israel? Or do you have a family there?
The help desk of the Iloilo provincial government is offering assistance.
According to the head of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO)-Iloilo Francisco Heler Jr., they are extending their services to Ilonggos working abroad affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict, especially those trying to return home.
In an interview with Panay News, Heler said, “Ang aton Bulig Ilonggo (help desk) is still operational… So, kon gusto nila puede man ang ila family makasaka diri kon ano puede naton mabulig ukon mismo ang affected Ilonggo sa Israel puede man makalab-ot sa aton.”
Heler explained that his office reviews requests such as assistance to overseas workers or repatriations. These requests are then forwarded to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
The help desk was installed in January last year, catering to those seeking information on family members and relations working in Iraq, Iran and other parts of the Middle East.
Managed by PESO-Iloilo, and co-headed by Provincial Administrator Atty. Suzette Mamon, the help desk’s members also include: the OWWA, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), the Iloilo Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), the General Services Office (GSO), the Information Communication Technology Management Office (ICTMO), and the Public Information and Community Affairs Office (PICAO).
The help desk is equipped with all the necessary utilities such as an internet connection and telecommunication lines. It also has an email address which family members can use to send long-distance messages or make video calls.
The PESO-Iloilo office is located at the fifth floor of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
